Part of the Greater Manchester Walking Festival - took the train down to Manchester ... and quite literally "walked home" ... not the best weather, and when we got to Hartshead Pike it lashed it down ! Good day out though with the Tameside Ramblers .. pics at
'twas a 50th birthday bash for an old friend who used to live opposite - so we made a (very) long weekend out of it - up to Alnwick for the "big do" on Saturday night (me and Mrs Smiffy scored top marks at the ceilidh !!!), followed by a long walk on Sunday (bus to Amble and walk back to Alnwick), followed by a fairly lazy Monday (shopping, tea etc) and home on Tuesday. Pics mostly from the Sunday walk with a couple from Tuesday - brief stop at the Angel- at
A trip out to a "Football League" ground ... with all the aggro that it involves - non-smoking stadium, cr*p beer at inflated prices, search bag ("That's a professional camera ... you can't etc etc etc") .. aargh !!! We made it through however. Celtic's last chance to make something out of what has been a sh*t season to be honest - and at the end of the night they weren't far off - a freaky wind assisted goal in the first five minutes was all that separated the two sides - although towards the end there was some momentous "goal saving" efforts by the Celtic defence as they pushed forward. Hey ho - well done to FCUM at the end of the day - now time for Celtic to regroup and prepare for the Evo-Stik League. Pics from the night at FCUM 1 Stalybridge Celtic 0 .
...walking a lot and seeing some old ruins ... hence the lack of football since the "Great Mossley Escape" .. A week in Italy along the Amalfi Coast - including Pompei, Vesuvius and Herculanem A few pix (!!) at
Liam Ellis has just made it 2-1 - first goal for Mossley and oh so important !!!
Mossley are staying up - 'twas squeaky bum time as ... if Mossley lose their last two and Goole win their last two ... disaster. Fortunately - when Mossley were 0-1 down - word came through that Brighouse were 2-0 up against Goole (both goals scored by ex-Lilywhite Mike Fish - thank you a million times !!!). Anyroad up - Mossley did it themselves ... pics at
Luke Pilling saves the pen - despite the efforts of Trump, Wall and Bandidos ...
A little bit of Mexico came to town on Saturday - together with Donald Trump and a paper wall - a celebratory "day out" for the Champions - honours even at the end, but a grand day out for all I'm sure ...
