Fresh from playing on Saturday, Monday and Tuesday ... Celtic came down to Derbyshire with 12 players - including 2 goalkeepers (4 players stranded in a broken down car). An heroic performance, but to be honest, they must have been running on empty ...

Belper fans made up the majority of the 103 attendance ...
Was hoping to see some old mates from Stalybridge - who were due to play Matlock Town today. However the weather put paid to that, so checked out the National Rail planner and found an awayday to Sutton Coldfield was feasible. Tweeted Romulus to check if game was still on and got the reply "Definitely - we've got a 3G pitch" ... well I didn't know (much still to learn about Evo-Stik Division 1 South !!). A jolly day out and revenge for the 2-2 home draw a couple of weeks earlier.

Matlock Town v Farsley Celtic - Football - but Only Just !!!
Springtime in Matlock ...
Unable to travel to Spalding on Saturday to see Belper Town, so headed up the A6 (OK using the train !) to see Matlock Town play Farsley Celtic. Several blizzards and one stoppage (line clearing) later, it was nice to get into a nice warm clubhouse ! Matlock took an early lead and had several chances to improve in the first half ... but it all went wrong after the break, and the unscheduled stoppage part way through the second half seemed to be the key - Farsley scoring twice to go back to Leeds with all three points. Leandro Browne sets the ball rolling - 1-0 to Belper ...
A win !!! Didn't make the midweek game at Chesterfield (Derbyshire Senior Cup - 0-0 lost on pens), but the word was "much improved" - and it showed on Saturday. Belper rode their luck a bit at the start - but a penalty save and a disallowed Alvechurch goal was the catalyst for an excellent performance. Pics at
